its not what i expected you gold only iron small close.and the press stand to low.
I am one of those people who irons everything, including t-shirts and bed sheets. Recently while using a hand iron, a light went on in my head. I remembered a "mangle" my mother used to use when I was a kid, and a similar version a friend of mine in Switzerland uses. So I signed into Amazon and after a bit of researching, decided to purchase the SF-680. Because I live in a small apartment with limited space, I decided not to buy the stand, but to use a collapsible bridge table, which works fine. Like any piece of machinery, it takes getting used to, but once I learned to maneuver the press and the material being ironed, I am very satisfied with the outcome. My biggest problem is that I have burned the back of my right hand three times by accidentally touching the hot plate while accommodating the material. One does need to be careful! To iron dress shirts to perfection, this press probably is not much faster than a hand iron. But it irons everything else - t-shirts, sheets, handkerchiefs, pillow cases, etc. in a breeze. For pressing pants you will not get as good a finish as with a hand iron, but it will be as good as you will get from a dry cleaner. My only advice to new owners is: this is one time you really need to read the operating manual carefully! I am so pleased with this product and am now only asking myself why it took me so long to considering buying one. The price is really not that much more than a good steam iron, and the time you save makes the press pay for itself in no time! I am now recommending it to all my friends who still iron (a vanishing species!!!)
this irons your clothes to a nice crisp finish but it didn't end up saving me any time vs ironong wih a iron. I get burned on this thing more than I ever did with a iron...there is a art to working this thing and it takes awhile to catch on.
I have to Iron my clothes everyday and it use to take me for ever. Not now this machine has saved me so much time and it is easy to use. It folds so it is easy to put away. I realy am glad I bought this
I received a SteamFast Model SF-680 as a gift and used it very little for approximately 1 year before the steam function stopped working. Since the item was no longer covered by warranty, I removed the bottom plate, tested the water pump motor, and found it to be defective. I have found that determining what was wrong is the easy part of solution, finding a source for the part is the difficult part. I have contacted many retail outlets and Top Innovations,Inc. via internet and phone without success. The problem must be: since item manufactured in China and original cost so inexpensive parts are not available. Hope I am wrong and if anyone knows of a source for parts please respond.
I searched Amazon for a few days before deciding on this product. My ultimate goal was to eliminate the ironing in my life while easing and expediting the process of ironing/pressing shirts. I have had the Steam Press for 6 weeks now and am very pleased. It takes only a few minutes to warm up, and even less time to press one item. I am a single male, who just never could work his way around an iron. Unfortunately, my job requires me to wear a dress shirt 5 days a week. Thanks to the Steam Press, I have made this part of my life much easier. I even use it to steam other items I would never have bothered before (ie: jeans, ties).
I can't say if the Steam Press is the best Press on the market. But, I can tell you it worked for me as described and is hard to beat for this price (I got it for $200).
This is my second pressing machine. I wore out the first after 18 years. I use it on shorts, golf shirts, pillow cases, placemats and napkins just to name a few. No home should be without one.

I'm the sort of guy who can't use an iron to save his career, but chokes every time he has to fork over $3 a dress shirt to the cleaners here in NYC.
After using this device, It looks like those days are over. Sure, I haven't done nearly as good a job as someone who knows what he/she's doing with a regular iron--let alone professional cleaners--but now I can get away with throwing my work outfits in with the rest of my clothes and dropping them off at the per-pound laundromat. When I get them back, it's a simple matter to press out the wrinkles that a supposedly wrinkle-free shirt accumulates after being left folded in a laundry bag all day.
For anyone with similar needs who barely knows which side of an iron not to touch, this product is for you.
Tired of ironing my white dress shirts I did some extensive research and bought the Steam Fast SF-680 Digital Fabric Steam Press. I am thrilled with this high quality, professional type steam press. It took a couple of days to develope my technique but even from the first time I used it I loved it. It does a great job pressing my shirts and is very easy to use. I am very, very satisfied.
Have used it a few times and I still have use for my old Black and Decker iron!
Pros: ironing area is big and so does help out in ironing small clothes (will help for those with children!).
Cons: 1. potential for burning your hands while placing the clothes or moving them in between pressing
2. Manual talks about using distilled water for steam - not tap water!
3. Only works well for certain type of clothes
Yes, still keep the old iron (don't throw it away). This one is good only if there is not much of wrinkles; otherwise you are better off using the old, the normal iron.
